Part legend, part truth, the story of the Maiden of Ludmir has inspired great authors like An-sky and his much beloved play the Dybbuk, stayed in the minds of the people of Ludmir and their descendants in diaspora, and inspired a variety of historians and scholars across the globe. Although today her story has largely faded in the minds of modern Jewry, her life left a lasting mark on our understanding of Ashkenazi folklore.
