UK Tour Shabbaton: Torah In Exile

Shel Maala and the Trans Halakha Project are excited to announce Torah in Exile, five days of learning, Torah, prayer, joy, food, and community at Sadeh! From Thursday, 30 July, through Sunday, 2 August, we will be immersed in exploring halakha as a tool of Jewish self-creation, survival, and thriving in diaspora.
This "extended shabbaton" is broken into two sections:
Halakha of Diaspora (+ Shabbes)
July 30 (5pm) - August 1
Join Binya, R' Xava, and Laynie -- the co-directors of the Trans Halakha Project -- for immersive learning, farming, and embodied practice that celebrates and grapples with galus (exile) in and through halakha. Our learning will offer sessions that explore: diasporist approaches to halakha, a deep-dive into unique practices upheld by diaspora Jews, creative and constructive relationships to land, and halakhic language for solidarity. Followed by a soulful set of shabbat learning, feasting and services.
Roots of Return
August 2, 9am-6pm
Amongst breaks and delicious food, we’ll be spending the day studying an amazing piece of Talmud about exile, belonging and home.
